For our Week 8 Friday Night Feature, we traveled out to Lavaca, Arkansas to catch the Lavaca Golden Arrow Band and Magazine Rattler Band.
Another rainy day that did not stop the Lavaca and Magazine bands from preforming at the game. Earlier that day and week it had been raining and I was worried if there would be a band at the game. But as it got closer to game time, the rain held off and the bands arrived. It was exciting for Lavaca because it was their homecoming game.
This was the first time I had meet with the Lacava and Magazine Band Directors. I greatly enjoy meeting the directors of the area band. The first band I stopped at was the Lavaca Golden Arrow Band. They are under the direction of Logan Dooly with Assistant Director Tyler Huntington. The band has 54 student in grades 9th through 12th grade. Their show this year is titled “British Invasion.”
After spending sometime with the Lavaca Band, I moved across the field to the Magazine Rattler Band. They are under the direction of Ashley Love. The Magazine band is made up of 24 8th through 12th grade students. Their 2018 show is titled, “Little Shop of Horrors.” It was great to meet this band because I saw them at the Dale Bumpers Marching Contest. They had a plant as one of their props that we featured on our Instagram story from that day. I did get a selfie with it.
Both of these band have great programs. I encourage you to go and watch these bands sometime. I hope you caught them at the Region 8 Marching Assessment but if you did not them they a band concert or a parade. Best of luck to both of these band programs.
