We headed out East on Highway 22 to check out the Charleston Tiger Marching Band and Ozark Hillbilly Marching Band for our Week 4 Friday Night Feature.
If you have ever heard of Charleston, then you know football is a big part of their town. That also extends to their band program. This was another perfect example of small town football. The stadium was full and fans were there to support their team. It was a great night of football.
The Charleston Tiger Marching Band is under the direction of Jessica Holt and assistant director Joshua Uhrich. The band is made up of 46 members that range from 9-12th graders. Their 2018 show is titled “Colors.” The Ozark Hillbilly Marching Band is under the direction of Brandon Hanlon. The Ozark Band has 55 members that are in 9th-12th grade. Their 2018 show is titled “Motown.”
Both of these band have very strong sounds for their size. While talking to Ms. Holt, she stated that the Charleston Band will be preforming as the 3A Honor Band at the All-State Convention in February. This is an amazing honor for a band to receive. I highly encourage you to attend a Charleston or Ozark game to hear the bands preform. You will not regret it. You will also be able to catch both bands at the Region 8 Marching Assessment.
