Last Friday, we traveled to Fort Smith Northside High School for the 3rd week of Friday Night Feature. Both Northside Band and Van Buren Band were in attendance on the unusually hot mid September game.

The Northside Band was hyped up and ready for the game when we arrived playing several pep tunes. The mood continued throughout the game with several drumline cadences that featured individual drummers being heard throughout the stadium. The Van Buren band arrived shortly after the game started and began playing a few pep tunes and cadences soon after.

At halftime the Northside Band took the field performing their halftime show Villains. Some of the songs were Star Wars - Heathens . The Van Buren Band performed an 80s themed halftime show. The quality of each show was exceptional for this early in the season. The Northside Low Brass was not shy with their sound. Van Buren’s percussion had a strong drum feature, showing off their skills.

During the third quarter of the game the Northside Band’s 3rd quarter pep band moved close to the student section and played several popular songs and pep tunes to cheer on the football team. The cheerfulness was short lived though due to a Northside football player being injured on the field. Once he was moved to safety and both bands had returned to their seats they each began to play again and cheer for their teams.

Both the Van Buren and Northside Band are off to a great start. as the season continues, you will not want to miss these shows. So check their schedule and catch them at a game this season.

On September 20th, we will be at Ozark for our Week 4 Friday Night Feature of the Ozark Marching Band and the Charleston Marching Band.
